Tattoo Aftercare
Gently wash your tattoo with warm water and mild soap. Do not use a towel or anything abrasive to dry your skin, and do not re-bandage. Apply a thin coat of unscented moisturizer if desired.
Be aware that on the first night, your new tattoo can stain clothing and sheets.
On the second day, gently wash your tattoo one or two times and apply moisturizer.
After 1-3 days your tattoo should form a thin scab. At this point, you should stop washing with soap. Apply a thin coat of unscented lotion 3-5 times daily after showering.
Your tattoo should take approximately two weeks to heal.
What to Avoid While Your Tattoo is Healing
-
Scratching
During the healing process, the skin may itch or feel tight. DO NOT PICK OR SCRATCH THE TATTOO UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, AS THIS CAN CAUSE PERMANENT DAMAGE TO YOUR TATTOO.
-
Sun
Avoid direct sunlight on your tattoo while it is healing. Use sunscreen after the tattoo has completely healed to prevent fading.
-
Irritants
For two weeks after getting your tattoo, avoid swimming, submerging your tattoo in water, recreational water activities, gardening, steam rooms/saunas, and contact with animals.
